Fuel economy runs aren’t something you would expect from a supercar but the holds the title of “the most fuel-efficient McLaren ever produced” with a claimed 50+ mpg (4.7 L/100 km) mileage based on combined EU WLTP ratings.
That makes it better than the which we recorded an average of 6.7 L/100 km! Granted, those figures are still pending final validation at least according to the press docket but the figures that we can certainly not dispute would be its performance.
After all, why would you be interested in getting a McLaren if not for its power figures that are commendable in a game of Top Trumps.
A little more than a year after its global debut, the McLaren Artura makes its way to Malaysia with a starting price of RM 1,050,000 before tax. This includes a 5-year warranty, a 6-year battery warranty, and a 10-year body warranty.
The Artura is McLaren’s first-ever series-production High-Performance Hybrid (HPH) supercar that blends thrilling performance, driving dynamics, and engagement with EV driving capability. Underneath its lightweight body is a 3.0-litre V6 (585 PS/585 Nm) with an electric motor (95 PS/225 Nm).
Combined, the hybrid supercar makes 680 PS and 720 Nm while acceleration to 100 km/h from rest takes 3 seconds. The Artura’s power-to-weight ratio comes in at 488 PS/tonne which is one of the highest among rivals.
Hybrid technology was mostly confined to McLaren’s Ultimate Series models which include the McLaren P1 and the Speedtail Hyper GT which are some of the rarest exotics in the world. Now that it has trickled down to the non-limited production models, it marks a new beginning for the Woking-based supercar marque.
The Artura is mated to a newly-developed 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) with an electronic differential (E-diff) which are a first for a McLaren. The E-diff locks and unlocks individual rear wheels to improve traction out of corners.
The boot is enough for a quick weekend trip up Genting Highlands or to the East Coast
Another first for a McLaren is the inclusion of ADAS which offers Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop/Go, Lane-Departure Warning, High-Beam Assist, and Road Sign Recognition. Combined with the supposed fuel ratings, this isn’t just a McLaren to tear up the tarmac but also an everyday supercar.
