At yesterday’s opening of the 2022 Vietnam Auto Show, presented its LF-Z – a concept car that previews Lexus’ next generation electric SUV. This is the first time the LF-Z is shown in an Asian country outside of China and Japan.
First introduced in 2021, the LF-Z previews the brand’s upcoming all-wheel drive battery EV SUV with a 600 km driving range, that accelerates from 0-100 km/h in under 3 seconds.
Like the RZ450e, the LF-Z will feature Lexus’ signature two-motor Direct4 all-wheel drive, which Lexus says is perfected at its -Nurburgring Shimoyama proving ground to offer a very high level of driver engagement.
Lexus says the “driving performance, styling, and technologies envisioned” in the LF-Z concept will be realized in a series production car by 2025.
Lexus Vietnam has yet to introduce any battery EV models, but that should change by the second half of this decade.
Lexus aims to offer EV variants of all its models by 2025, with the sales ratio of EVs exceeding that of combustion engine models. Of course, specifics of that ratio may differ from one country to another but Lexus aims to be an EV-only brand by 2035.
For now, Lexus Vietnam’s range of electrified models stop at hybrids – the 350h and 450h.
