The Porsche Cayenne will see a facelift version launched soon and in the meantime, is available for booking online for those who want to be one of the early birds. Porsche Malaysia, represented by Sime Darby Auto Performance, will officially launch this popular SUV made exclusively for the Malaysian market. In the first quarter of 2022, Porsche and Sime Darby Berhad unveiled the CKD (completely knocked down) assembly operations in Kulim, Kedah. This is the first assembly facility outside of Europe and a testament to Porsche’s commitment to Malaysia and ASEAN.
Though small in scale, relatively speaking, this assembly project is adapted to specific local conditions. In May 2023, the assembly operations in Malaysia celebrated a significant milestone having recorded more than 1,000 locally assembled Cayennes successfully delivered to customers here.
The updated Cayenne receives more refinement and features upgrades to its chassis systems, as well as innovative high-tech features, and a digitalised display and control concept. The standard specification of the new Cayenne has been enhanced for Malaysia i.e. with features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, soft-close doors and the Sport Chrono Package that are optional elsewhere in the world.
The Cayenne facelift will also have an enhanced suite of standard features compared to its predecessor, including Matrix LED headlights, Porsche Active Suspension Management, Power Steering Plus, 20″ Cayenne Design wheels, Front and Rear Park Assist with Surround View, Bose Surround Sound System and a Smartphone Tray with Inductive Charging of up to 15 Watts.
The standard Matrix LED headlights make use of speed, camera and navigation data to ensure ideal illumination. The high beam area is divided into 11 segments (matrix) that can be illuminated or dimmed according to the situation. This way, the headlights provide optimal visibility with the high beam activated and without dazzling oncoming traffic.
Along with the headlights, the new Cayenne also sports a more expressive appearance with a new front end that combines with more strongly arched wings, and a new bonnet to emphasise the vehicle’s width. Meanwhile, 3-dimensional taillights, uncluttered surfaces beneath and a new rear apron with integrated number plate holder characterise the rear end design of the Cayenne.
Inside, the locally assembled new Cayenne also comes with 14-way electric comfort seats with memory package as standard. Headrests on the front seats are also embossed with the Porsche crest as standard for Malaysia, as are electric roll-up sun blinds for the rear windows.
Porsche has also integrated a completely revised display and control concept into this facelift model. The new Porsche Driver Experience, first introduced in the Porsche Taycan, focuses instrumentation on the driver’s axis to optimise operation. Functions that the driver uses frequently are located directly on or immediately next to the steering wheel.
For example, the lever located on the left behind the steering wheel now has additional functions for operating the driver assistance systems. The automatic transmission selector lever is also repositioned on the dashboard. This makes room in the new centre console for storage compartments and a large air conditioning controller panel.
For the first time, the redesigned cockpit of the Cayenne includes a 12.6″ digital instrument cluster in a curved and freestanding design, and with variable display options. The standard 12.3″ central Porsche Communication Management (PCM) display integrated into the new dashboard provides access to all the relevant vehicle functions.
A key feature of the new Porsche Driver Experience is the right balance between digital and analogue elements. Large, easily accessible controls combined with mechanical air conditioning switches and a haptic volume controller ensure optimum operability yet offering a refined look.
The updated Cayenne also features an air quality control system as standard. The vehicle uses predictive navigation data to detect approaching tunnel entrances and automatically activates air recirculation. Optionally, a sensor detects the level of fine dust particles in the air and passes it through the fine dust filter multiple times if necessary. Additionally, an ioniser helps reduce germs and pollutants from the cabin air, which is particularly beneficial for those with allergies.
In the case of driving experience, there is the new adaptive air suspension with 2-chamber, 2-valve technology. This improves the driving with a soft suspension characteristic, stabilises the vehicle further and simplifies on-road and off-road handling (compared to both the standard suspension and the preceding model). At the same time, the adaptive air suspension improves driving precision and performance, and reduces body movement in dynamic driving situations. The suspension also offers an even sharper differentiation between Normal, Sport and Sport Plus driving modes.

Buyers have 3 exterior colours to pick from i.e.Chromite Black Metallic, Carrara White Metallic and Quarzite Grey Metallic. Interior colour choices are black, or black and red leather.
Further personalisation options are available for the new locally assembled Cayenne, including the 21″ Cayenne Exclusive Design wheels and 22″ Sport Design wheels. You can also add on optional Tequipment accessories including for the rear seat entertainment system to enhance the passenger experience.
