Sean Nurse conducts a full video review of not just a Porsche 911 Targa but the Edition 50 Years Porsche Design derivative.
The Porsche 911 Targa received its name from the German automaker’s success in the international Targa Florio race. However, the model was not more sporty like the Carrera RS, instead, it was aimed at lifestyle car buyers that wanted to purchase a vehicle with a removable roof. As regulations around vehicles were getting even more strict in the USA, there were indications that the large market could ban convertible vehicles for safety reasons.
As a preventative solution to this regulation, Porsche developed the Targa variant which would still allow their customers to experience open-top driving. Ultimately, the ban on convertible vehicles never happened, however, Porsche customers were so fond of the Targa’s design that the variant remains in the range up until today. Sean Nurse gets behind the wheel of the latest iteration of the Porsche 911 Targa, this one in Edition 50 Years Porsche Design guise, and shares what he thinks about the sportscar.
