Petrol, diesel and hybrid AWD versions of the Peugeot 3008 remain in decent supply locally
Unlike many of its midsize SUV rivals, the Peugeot 3008 is actually in stock in Australia.
The French brand is relatively low-volume locally in terms of sales, but the 3008 is Peugeot’s popular model. 1172 examples being sold in 2021 – and 517 more have been delivered so far in 2022.
Speaking with Chasing Cars at the static reveal of Peugeot’s new 308 small car, managing director Kate Gillis said the 3008 supply situation was rosy for a segment known for wait times that can stretch beyond 12 months for popular models like the Toyota RAV4 and Volkswagen Tiguan.

“Currently, we’ve got 3008 in market, and we’ve got a good mix of all variants – so if you wanted to go and buy a 3008 today I am pretty confident you would get that immediately,” Gillis said.
“If you are looking at a colour we may not have in stock, it would not be a huge wait. Currently, our orders are coming through [from the factory] every month. We are finding some relatively good supply coming through in the next six months … but we keep it very cautious in terms of managing expectations around that.”
Peugeot sells the 3008 midsize SUV in five grades in Australia. Three have 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engines: the $50,072 Allure entry grade, the $53,414 GT, and the $63,431 GT Sport.

You can still get a diesel 3008 – unlike many rivals – in the $56,753 GT BlueHDI – while there is also a GT Sport plug-in hybrid with 60km electric driving range (WLTP) that costs a hefty $84,790. All 3008 grades have an automatic transmission, but only the plug-in hybrid scores all-wheel drive (AWD). The remainder are front-wheel drive.
Chasing Cars spoke to a number of Peugeot dealers in New South Wales who confirmed that they had a variety of vehicles in stock and available for immediate delivery and across all grades, though the hybrid was more difficult to pin down – as were darker grey/brown colours.
Speaking about 3008 hybrid availability in particular, Gillis told Chasing Cars that “if you were to come in and buy one but it isn’t in that dealership now, it would be sourced within a matter of days.”
Dealer stock remains decent for the 3008 across all grades
National public affairs manager of Peugeot Australian distributor Inchcape Chloe Fraser said that “it always comes down to what the customer’s preference [is]. There are so many different variations of 3008, particularly [colour]. We know some customers are very particular on the colour that they want, and they’re willing to wait a bit longer.”
“We are also seeing a greater demand for the higher-specified vehicles which might have a slightly longer wait, but on the entry and mid-range models, I think you’ll find the stock more readily available for customers.”
About half of the brand-new examples of 3008 Chasing Cars verified were in stock are the $50K Allure entry-level model.
But there was a full mix of diesel and petrol GT, high-output petrol GT Sport and GT Sport PHEV models available in a mix of colours.
