Consumer Reports doesn’t seem to favor the Nissan Rogue
2021 Nissan Rogue models received a significant refresh. They are powered by a 181-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a CVT. Although this may sound exciting, the performance is rather bland and unengaging. Additionally, even though interior space has improved, there is no more third-seat option, which probably wasn’t the best direction to take.
2018 Nissan Rogue models were also frowned upon by Consumer Reports. The engine would make loud noises when pushed, which was even worse with the CVT transmission. Additionally, the driver’s seat was short on support, so if you were driving long distances, you’d probably be uncomfortable.
Why did the 2022 Nissan Rogue score so low?

The 2022 Nissan Rogue was ranked low in the Compact SUV segment. For starters, this model seems to have an abrupt acceleration, so it may come off as more powerful than it really is.
If you’re going to get the Rouge, it may be worth stepping up to the SV trim level. It includes dual-zone automatic climate control as well as heated exterior mirrors. You’ll get heated front seats and a heated steering wheel when equipped with the SV Premium package. A downfall to this is that some of the testers noticed the air vents were positioned too low. It seemed like the air flowed to the elbows and knees instead of the upper body. Not ideal on a hot summer day!
Regarding performance, the 2022 Nissan Rogue now comes with a 201-horsepower, 1.5-liter turbo three-cylinder engine paired to a continuously variable transmission. Although there is a good punch, some testers came across idle vibration, which isn’t the best if you are looking for a quiet ride.

We’re not saying the Nissan Rogue is all bad, but there are better options out there. For example, the 2022 Subaru Forester was rated high and comes standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. If you like to take adventures to the trials, you might want to test drive one for yourself. Other great alternatives include the 2022 Hyundai Tucson (which happens to be on the affordable side) and the 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime. The 2022 Honda CR-V is also an excellent SUV for small families. It has a 190-horsepower turbocharged engine, 17-inch alloy wheels, and an Easy Fold-Down 60/40 split rear seatback. It also comes with all the safety features you could ever imagine, from adaptive cruise control to the lane-keeping assist system.
