Yamaha has introduced a new colour scheme for the R15 V4 in India, called the Dark Knight. The new paint job sits between Metallic Red and Racing Blue in terms of prices, and the motorcycle is now available in four different shades. In February 2023, Yamaha India launched the 2023 R15 V4, R15 M, FZ-X, MT 15 V2.0, and FZ-S V4 in India with a few new features and colours. All the motorcycles, including the R15 V4 complies with BS6 phase-2 emission norms and can also run on E20 fuel.
Yamaha R15 V4: New colour
As the name suggests, the new Dark Knight colour of the R15 V4 features a matte black paint job paired with striking gold on the fairing and above the headlight. It also comes with golden alloy wheels. The colour options for the R15 V4 now include Metallic Red, Dark Knight, Racing Blue, and Intensity White.
Yamaha R15 V4: Engine and transmission
Powering the R15 V4 is a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled four-valve engine mated to a six-speed gearbox. It produces 18.4PS at 10,000rpm and 14.2Nm of torque at 7,500rpm.

The hardware on the Yamaha R15 V4 includes upside-down front forks, a rear monoshock, 282mm front disc, 220mm rear disc, an LED headlight, digital display with Bluetooth connectivity, Y-Connet app support, dual-channel ABS, two riding modes (Street and Track), a traction control system, and a quick shifter.
Yamaha R15 V4: Prices and rivals
The prices of the R15 V4 start from Rs 1,80,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and go up to Rs 1,85,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It competes against the likes of the KTM RC 125/RC 200, Bajaj Pulsar RS 200, and Suzuki Gixxer SF 250.
The R15 has an enormous fan base in India and is one of the best-selling motorcycles in its segment. Interestingly, it will soon face competition from a new player with a legendary nameplate – the all-new Hero Karizma XMR. The Karizma had dominated the market for years, and the upcoming Karizma XMR is also likely to run in direct competition with the R15 V4 as well as the KTM RC 125 and RC 200.
Notably, Hero Honda launched the first-ever Karizma in 2003, while the Yamaha R15 V1 arrived in 2008, almost half a decade after the launch of the Karizma.
