The Peugeot e-2008 is one of the best selling electric SUVs in the UK and the new model will rival the Vauxhall Mokka-e, Kia Soul EV and Hyundai Kona Electric. New Peugeot e-2008 price and release date

The new 2022 Peugeot e-2008 starts from £33,700 for the Active Premium trim and rises to £38,850 for the hot hatch inspired GT model. The Peugeot e-2008 doesn’t qualify for the Government plug-in car grant owing to the fact all models sit above the grant threshold of £32,000. The e-2008 model line-up has also been streamlined to four trim levels, which means the entry-level Allure e-2008 is no longer available due to customer preferences for higher vehicle spec.

New Peugeot e-2008 styling

The Peugeot e-2008 gets minor styling updates for 2008. Black Diamond door mirror covers, finished in Nera Black Metallic paint, are now fitted as standard across the range. These were previously only offered on the high spec GT models.

As before, LED headlights are fitted as standard on every e-2008, while the GT models get Peugeot’s signature 3-claw LED daytime running lights with its eye-catching tooth design. The LED headlights on GT models also feature a smart auto dipping function, along with front LED fog lights.

The chic styling of the e-2008 makes it stand out from the SUV crowd. The front of the Peugeot is dominated by its huge and stylish grille that is colour coded to whichever one of the eight body colours you choose. The front bumper is finished in black on the entry-level Active Premium model and silver on every other version of the e-2008; however, if you want the Diamond Black roof, you’ll need to choose the e-2008 in GT trim or higher.

The rear of the car is distinguished by its lack of tailpipes. The bumper is finished in black with a silver step, while the 3D tiger claw effect taillights complete the eye-catching design. All models get a rear spoiler, but only GT models get the Diamond Black finish to match the roof.

Wheel sizes range from 16- to 18-inches in size, with the range-topping GT Premium model getting the largest diamond cut alloys. As part of the 2022 update, Peugeot has upgraded the tyres of most versions of the e-2008 to to ‘A+’ class, providing greater efficiency thanks to the lower rolling resistance

New Peugeot e-2008 practicality and interior

The Peugeot e-2008 has space for up to four adults to travel in comfort, although tall passengers in the rear seats may find it a snug fit due to the limited amount of legroom. However, if you are looking for a compact family car with young children in mind, we think the electric e-2008 will be a good choice.

The Ford Puma is probably the best small SUV for practicality but the e-2008 will accommodate of large suitcases or the big weekly shop with 434 litres of boot space on offer, which is the same as the petrol and diesel versions of the 2008. If you need to carry bulky objects, like bits of furniture or a mountain bike, you can lower the second row of seats to access 1476 litres. You also get a useful 1014mm load width between the rear wheel arches.

All versions of the e-2008 get touchscreen infotainment as standard with full Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatability. Active Premium and Allure Premium models get a seven-inch touchscreen while GT and GT Premium trim use the 10-inch HD display with 3D navigation and live traffic alerts.

As with the 208, you get Peugeot’s i-Cockpit system that features a small steering wheel and low slung instrument dials. If you chose your e-2008 in Allure Premium trim or better then you’ll have a fully digital 3D instrument display, which allows you to customise the instruments to major on the vehicle’s speed, battery charge or navigation maps. In our opinion, the 3D i-Cockpit system is a must-have piece of tech on the e-2008.

New Peugeot e-2008 range, power and performance

The maximum range of the Peugeot e-2008 has been improved. Peugeot says you will get up to 214 miles on a single charge from the new 2022 model, a notable improvement on the 193-miles the e-2008 had when it was first launched in 2019.

To squeeze more miles out of the 50kWh battery, Peugeot has fitted ‘A+’ tyres to cut rolling resistance. A new gearbox ratio has also been added to optimise the range on the road and motorway journeys.

The 2022 e-2008 also gets a new heat pump, coupled with an interior humidity sensor installed at the top of the windscreen, which will optimise the energy efficiency of the heating and air conditioning system.

The 50kWh powers a 100kW electric motor that delivers 136PS to the front-wheels. You also get 260Nm of torque from 300rpm, which means the e-2008 will cover 0-62mph in a respectable nine seconds.

The e-2008 can be hooked to 100kW rapid charger to add up to 80% battery charge in just 30 minutes, while a full charge using a conventional 7.4kW and 11kW charger will take between eight hours and five hours. A full charge from a domestic plug will take up to 20 hours.

The launch of the new Peugeot e-2008 means there are some good offers on the outgoing version. A budget of under-£30,000 will get you a 2021 e-2008 with less than 100 miles on the clock. You can also find GT models from 2020 with less than 10,000 miles n the clock for around £29,000.
