The New Nissan ARIYA crossover looks unlike anything else on the road. Here's why...
The exterior of the all-electric New Nissan ARIYA has been shaped by traditional Japanese design philosophies – working with advanced technology and aerodynamic innovation to create a timelessly stylish, efficient and futuristic EV unlike anything else on the road.
Let’s start at the front. Inspired by the idea of kabuku – bold expressions that defy the norm – the New Nissan ARIYA’s grille is a seamless one-piece shield. It marks the ARIYA out as an all-electric car, while also protecting the wealth of crucial Nissan ProPILOT Assist with Navi-Link driving sensors beneath that help to make driving easier and safer.
Underneath the smooth surface, you can see the first glimpse of a kumiko lattice pattern – inspired by the craft of traditional Japanese woodwork – that is also subtly featured throughout the ARIYA’s interior.
The New Nissan ARIYA’s exterior design is also heavily influenced by utsuroi: the idea of fluidity shaped by nature. The frontal shield works with cleverly shaped ducts to deliver a drag coefficient of just 0.297Cd, making it Nissan’s most aerodynamic crossover to date. The result: up to 329 miles of all-electric range. Thin LED headlights also work with sequential indicators to help reimagine Nissan’s signature V-Motion front-end design for its most striking and innovative all-electric vehicle yet.
The side profile is another compelling angle of the New Nissan ARIYA. The sleek, sporty roofline works with a single seamless line – also characterising utsuroi – that runs along the side of the ARIYA to connect front and rear. It evokes linear movement, while the optional 20-inch alloy wheels help to amplify the ARIYA’s electrifying performance abilities.
At the back, a one-piece LED light blade stretches across the rear of the New Nissan ARIYA, embodying the Japanese term sei – the clever treatment of structures and details – while the flared rear haunches and high-mounted wing subtly allude to the ARIYA’s all-electric power and capabilities.
Finally, the exterior Akatsuki Copper paint embodies the moment just before dawn as the sun marks the beginning of a new day, aptly reflecting the fact that the all-electric New Nissan ARIYA crossover is truly a new dawn for the Japanese brand and for the future of personal electric mobility.
