New Maserati GranTurismo 2023: price, specs & release date

The Maserati GranTurismo is a beautiful new entrant into the luxury coupe sector. 

Set for launch in 2023, it will be available in pure electric guise for the first time, as well as high-performance V6 petrol versions.

The new Maserati GranTurismo will take on famous rivals including the Porsche 911, Bentley Continental GT, BMW 8 Series and Aston Martin DB11. The electric 2023 Maserati GranTurismo Folgore model will also challenge the Audi e-tron GT, Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model S. Read on to learn all about the exciting new 2023 Maserati GranTurismo.

New Maserati GranTurismo 2023 prices and release date

The new Maserati GranTurismo will first go on sale in V6 turbo petrol-powered Modena and Trofeo guises. These cars are due on sale in spring 2023, with a UK release date a few months later. Prices are expected to start from around £150,000.

The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore EV will be released later in 2023. Prices are likely to start from around £200,000.

New Maserati GranTurismo 2023: exterior and interior

The 2023 Maserati GranTurismo is a classically beautiful new car. The Italian luxury brand has chosen elegance rather than futurism, with the traditional coupe profile looking low, wide and sleek.

The new GranTurismo has a dramatic long bonnet and powerful front wings with a rounded profile that gracefully wraps around the wheels. They have the same curvaceous shape at the rear, blending seamlessly into the flowing roofline. Maserati trident logos on the rear pillars complete the look.

The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore EV’s exterior is almost identical to the V6 petrol-powered Modena and Trofeo. The key difference with the new Folgore electric car is the lack of exhaust tailpipes at the rear – and the charging port is mounted in the left hand side of the bumper.

No images of the new Maserati GranTurismo’s interior have yet been revealed. The company is promising a ‘modern cabin equipped with innovative systems, including the Maserati Intelligent Assistant (MIA) multimedia system’.

The new Maserati GranTurismo will boast ‘the latest infotainment’, a fully-integrated touchscreen interface and an optional head-up display. The famous Maserati analogue clock that traditionally features in the centre of the dashboard will be replaced by a digital dial with a choice of faces.

Maserati is promising incredible sound systems for the new 2023 GranTurismo, including an immersive Sonus Faber 3D setup. It has 19 speakers and up to 1,195W of output, for ‘truly unique roundness of sound’.

The 2023 Maserati GranTurismo will be a 2+2 four-seater, and the company is promising a sporty, low-slung seating position. The petrol versions will have a 310-litre boot, which will shrink a little, to 270 litres, in the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore EV.

The new Maserati GranTurismo Folgore EV will hit 62mph in 2.7 seconds.

New Maserati GranTurismo 2023: engines and gearboxes

The headline new Maserati GranTurismo is the 2023 Folgore pure electric version. Courtesy of two motors at the rear and an additional motor at the front, it has a total power output of 760PS – good for 0-62mph in an electrifying 2.7 seconds, plus 0-124mph in 8.8 seconds. It is expected to reach a top speed of 199mph.

The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore will have a large 92.5kWh battery, which is mounted in a T-shaped carrier for maximum space efficiency. It has an 800V electrical architecture, so can recharge at speeds of up to 270kW, giving hundreds of miles of range in minutes. Maserati has not yet disclosed the overall driving range of the car, however.

The new Maserati GranTurismo Modena and Trofeo models are powered by a 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo petrol engine dubbed ‘Nettuno’. It will produce 490PS in the GranTurismo Modena and 550PS in the Trofeo. Both are expected to use a high-performance eight-speed automatic gearbox.

All versions of the new Maserati GranTurismo will sound thrilling – even the Folgore EV, thanks to work on an ‘all-round sound experience’ by engineers at the Maserati Innovation Lab.

The new Maserati GranTurismo uses a clever new chassis that makes extensive use of lightweight materials, including aluminium and magnesium. The Italian firm is promising ‘best-in-class weight levels’. The new architecture is so advanced, Maserati has developed all-new manufacturing processes to build it.

All versions of the Maserati GranTurismo are four-wheel drive. The Folgore EV has an advanced torque vectoring system and even a rear-wheel-drive mode: ideal for drifting on a racetrack. There will be multiple drive modes, including a track-honed setup for the more focused GranTurismo Trofeo.
