Choice of engines
The D300 offers a 3.0-litre turbocharged diesel unit which provides a total of 221kW and 650Nm, which lets the bulky SUV achieve a rather impressive 0-100km/h acceleration time of 7.5 seconds.
The P400 derivatives, meanwhile, make use of a 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine to deliver a higher power rating of 294kW but a lower torque figure of 550Nm.
As a result, the petrol versions have a faster sprint time of 6.6 seconds, but this comes at the cost of fuel consumption.
Both engines are paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox, and this provides the D300 with a combined fuel consumption of 8.2l/100km, while the P400 manages a lower return of 10.5l/100km.
In terms of its newfound dimensions, the eight-seater measures 5,358mm long, 2,008mm wide, and 1,970mm tall, giving it a ground clearance of 290mm and a maximum wading depth of 900mm.
This Defender has a maximum towing capacity of 3,000kg, too.
Refined features
Buyers of the new Land Rover can expect a luxurious interior that now includes eight seats in a 2+3+3 arrangement, these being upholstered in Windsor leather
Even with the added row of seats, the boot has enough space for 389 litres of cargo, and this is increased to an impressive 2,291 litres when the rear bench is folded.
Standard equipment across the range includes a panoramic sunroof, four-zone climate control, heating function for the second and third seating rows, ventilated front seats with electronic adjustment and memory function, multifunction steering wheel, keyless entry and start, rain-sensing wipers, a Meridian sound system, front and rear USB ports, chrome finished dashboard and centre console, and an 11.4-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen with smartphone pairing and in-built support for the What3Words navigation system.
Furthermore, the exterior is fitted with Matrix-LED headlamps, daytime-running lights, black roof rails, and alloy rims ranging from 19 to 22 inches, depending on the model.
Also included is a driver assist pack which brings lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, front and rear park distance control, and a 360-degree surround-view camera.
