Geely’s sporty sedan to rival Tesla Model S and other EVs from the likes of BMW and even Porsche
Chinese car-making giant Geely Auto has released a shadowy teaser of a sleek and sporty sedan that’s set to launch a fresh attack on premium EVs like the Tesla Model S and Mercedes-Benz EQE.
The still-secret large sedan features ultra-thin S-shaped daytime running lights, a traditional long bonnet and rakish rear styling that resembles a Porsche Panamera.
It also has flush illuminated door handles that hint that it might have a pair or rear-hinged ‘suicide’ doors.
Measuring in at around 4900mm long (Tesla Model S is 4980mm), the sedan is based on Geely’s SEA architecture that currently underpins everything from the Lotus Eletre and Smart #1 SUV to the upcoming Polestar 4.
It’s likely the new Geely sedan will share its powertrain with other EVs in the company’s stable, which includes brands such as Lynk & Co, Volvo, Radar, LEVC, Proton, Geometry, Livan and Farizon.

Tipped to be priced directly at its premium rivals, Geely has already announced it will launch a new family of premium EVs, although its flagship models will remain under the Zeekr brand.
It’s thought Geely will release more teasers to build anticipation for its latest sedan in the coming months.
Geely Auto is just one of a growing band of Chinese car-makers hatching plans to launch in Australia, with the car-maker set to land here as soon as this year.
When it does arrive, Geely Auto is expected to rock up with plug-in hybrid and all-electric versions of SUVs, utes and sedans, with the latest model set to be among the line-up.
It’s not the first time Geely has had a crack at our market as its models were sold between 2011-2014 via Western Australian car dealer group John Hughes.
