Latest Amazon device lets you take Alexa on the road with you regardless of when your car was made
Amazon is about to release its second-generation Echo Auto device, which gifts owners of older or more basic vehicles – without Bluetooth connectivity – with Alexa voice control, streaming services and hands-free voice call and texting functions.
Harnessing the power, connectivity and functionality of the driver’s smartphone, the Echo Auto device is ultimately a wireless cluster of microphones that work in tandem with the Amazon Alexa smartphone app, not only offering drivers hands-free connectivity but the ability to control compatible smart home devices from the road.
Five microphones packed into the slim device are specifically designed to pick up voices over music, air-conditioning and road noise, while a new adhesive mount allows it to be mounted just about anywhere on the dash or centre console.
Pricing starts from $99 in Australia and include the Echo Auto device, adhesive car mount, 3.5mm auxiliary cable and dual USB fast car charger.
