We have seen the novel Italian utility vehicle testing on the streets of Italy with a leaked image of its front end going viral but the Maranello based automaker has confirmed a naturally aspirated V12 powered Purosangue will debut in the month of September.

More than four years after Ferrari announced it would give its hand at creating an exclusive utility vehicle that was centred around practicality more so than all-out sportiness, the novel Purosangue is almost with us. Ferrari have also stated that the newcomer will be a “pure V12 model,” which means that we can expect the sonorous naturally aspirated engine from the 812 to be transplanted into here, perhaps with a few modifications to differentiate it from the grand tourer. Either way, it should be in the region of its lower-stanced counterpart that already puts out 588 kW and 718 N.m. This should make it the most powerful SUV in the world; except Ferrari still aren’t calling it that but rather a model “unlike any other.”
It’s no secret that there was speculation that a V12 would accompany the new model, with the unique sound clearly emanating from test mules in Maranello courtesy of spy video but Ferrari have assured that it will not account for more than 20% of its annual sales. Considering the Urus has become the biggest cash cow for Lamborghini with 20 000 sales in its life cycle already, this means that Ferrari will ensure the exclusivity and allure of current and future Prancing Horses to come.
The automaker has also committed to have 60% of its offerings use hybrid or pure electric powertrains by 2026, with the remainder representative of pure ICE-powered vehicles. This means that for the next few years at least, we can get to enjoy the last stand of petrol powered goodness. Regardless of what category Ferrari classify the naturally aspirated V12 powered Purosangue, it will expectedly go up against the likes of Aston Martin and their DBX, Bentley and their Bentayga, Lamborghini and the Urus and Rolls-Royce and their sizable Cullinan.
