The Mitsubishi Triton lineup for 2023 has a little more flair than before thanks to 400 Sport Edition dual-cabs coming to Australia
Mitsubishi will be targeting its sport-styled dual-cab competitors with a new special-edition Sport variant that is based upon the existing GLS Deluxe.
Pricing for the new Sport edition variant will start from $56,440 before on-road costs, placing it at the cheaper end of things when compared to the bi-turbo Ford Ranger Sport ($63,690) and the Mazda BT-50 SP ($66,390).
However, it is not a hardcore off-road special such as the Nissan Navara Warrior or Ford Ranger Raptor.

Instead, Mitsubishi has tweaked the Triton aesthetically through the use of a dark theme throughout along with black leather seats with red stitching and red accents on the side steps, skid plate and rear bodywork.
No performance enhancements have been made to the Sport edition Triton, so that means that suspension tuning and engine outputs remain the same as an equivalent GLS Deluxe. Power and torque comes from a 2.4-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine producing 133kW/430Nm.
Unfortunately for the manual purists, the Super Select II 4×4-equipped Triton Sport edition will only be available with an automatic transmission.

Other upgrades to the Mitsubishi Triton MY23 range
Mitsubishi Australia has said there will be updates to safety, audio and technology as well as interior trim for the 2023 Mitsubishi Triton.
The 2023 Mitsubishi Triton will be fitted with the high-grade SDA1 audio system for the GLX-R and GLS model grades that have now benefited from improved parts supply.
All GLX models are now fitted with black side steps that also provide improved side intrusion protection for occupants.
Only 400 special edition Tritons are coming to Australia
A tan orange and Deluxe interior package is available for the GLS Deluxe and GSR models. For the deluxe package, it includes leather-appointed and heated front seats, a powered driver seat, a 360-degree camera and leather-appointed door trims.
The tan orange pack gets, yep, seats finished in tan orange and black leather, along with a tan orange console box and orange stitching throughout.
All Mitsubishi Tritons come fitted with the following safety features:
- Emergency brake assist
- Trailer assist
- Speed limiter
- Hill start assist
The Mazda BT-50 SP is a good competitor for the Mitsubishi, however it’s more expensive

- Lane-change assist
- Lane departure warning
- Rear cross-traffic alert
- Ultrasonic misacceleration mitigation system
