ASX, Eclipse Cross and most Outlander delivery times blow out to two months
Mitsubishi has very nearly run out of SUVs, with buyers of only the rugged Mitsubishi Pajero Sport escaping a range-wide two-month wait time for delivery.
That’s the latest word from the triple diamond brand as it, like many other brands, grapples with supply constraints – and the situation is not expected to resolve itself, in this case, until 2023.
If they order today, consumers will have to wait until at least July to take delivery of their new Mitsubishi ASX, Eclipse Cross or Outlander, although the Pajero Sport and the Mitsubishi Triton ute it’s based on remain ready for immediate delivery.
Mitsubishi ASX
“The former has enjoyed stronger supply in recent months, as seen in the March and April VFACTS results,” a Mitsubishi Australia spokesperson told carsales.
“Triton stock received a boost with significant stock arrivals late last year, which translated into strong sales throughout the first quarter of 2022.”
Compared to those of the small and mid-size SUVs, the extended wait times aren’t quite so bad for the mid-range Outlander Aspire, for which Mitsubishi is currently nominating June for deliveries.
According to Mitsubishi, the Aspire’s shorter wait time is due to the varying (weekly and monthly) production allocations of the relevant factories.
Mitsubishi Outlander
Despite stock running dry, the Japanese brand is taking the opportunity to streamline its ASX and Eclipse Cross line-ups; returning them to somewhere around their pre-COVID statures.
In the former’s case, production of the ES-L, ES Plus, MR Plus and XLS Plus grades have all come to an end this month, while the latter’s XLS and XLS Plus trim levels have been axed.
“These limited models were introduced at the height of COVID restrictions, to ensure ongoing supply of vehicles while certain components were unavailable,” the Mitsubishi spokesperson said.
“This restriction has eased and we will now focus on the regular ASX and Eclipse Cross variants.”
Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross
Going forward, the Mitsubishi ASX line-up will now comprise the ES (manual and auto), ES ADAS, MR, LS, GSR and Exceed, in that order working from base to top-spec.
The Eclipse Cross range, meanwhile, will comprise ES, ES PHEV, LS, Aspire, Aspire PHEV, Exceed and Exceed PHEV variants.
On the subject of plug-in hybrids, the Australian launch date for the new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has been pushed back again – this time to “early Q3”, so either July or August.
