MG Motor India has officially begun accepting bookings for the Comet EV, their ultra-compact electric vehicle. While test drives are already underway, interested customers can reserve their Comet EV online via its official website or the MG dealership. Deliveries of the car are expected to begin from May 22 onwards. Prices of the MG Comet EV start from Rs 7.98 lakh and bookings are on for a token amount of Rs 11,000.
The MG Comet EV is now the cheapest electric car in India and is offered in three broad trims: Pace, Play and Plush.
The MG Comet EV is powered by a 42PS rear-mounted e-motor and a 17.3kWh battery pack, with a range of 230 kilometres. The MG Comet EV has a distinct and quirky design. It has a quadricycle-like design with upscale characteristics such as split headlights, LED elements across the width of the car, dazzling alloy wheels, a tall C-Pillar, and a dual-tone paint job. It’s basically a two-door small EV that seats up to four people. Meanwhile, the MG Comet measures 2,974mm in length, 1,505mm in width, 1,631mm tall and has a 2,010mm wheelbase.
Step inside, and the Comet has a relatively welcoming cabin with a dual 10.25-inch screen setup taking centre stage. The two-spoke steering wheel is a neat touch and it also features some controls inspired by the Apple iPod to make your journey a little easier. Other features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, keyless entry, over 55 connected car features, push pedal start, a digital key, power windows, a grey interior theme and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
