Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Montfort Boys Town, Shah Alam, for the recruitment of secondary students for its globally renowned Advanced Modern Apprenticeship programme.
The two-year MoU will start at a foundational level such as ‘Train the Trainer’ where MBM will provide technical skills and expertise training on current models to the Montfort Boys Town trainers, who in turn will then transfer the knowledge and skills to the students.
This initial move is meant to expose, cultivate and prepare students interested in joining the carmaker’s Advanced Modern Apprenticeship programme. Once the students have completed their secondary school education, a pre-enrolment assessment will be conducted for the students and those that meet the requirements will then be able to apply for the apprenticeship programme.
Students that have successfully enrolled in the apprenticeship programme will receive a full scholarship and be a full-time trainee under MBM. A monthly allowance of RM 800 will be provided to the students throughout the three-year programme and they’re guaranteed employment upon graduation with a minimum salary in the first year.
From there, graduates will be able to grasp more opportunities within the company’s customer service department such as management position after completion of their diagnostic level qualifications.
The Advanced Modern Apprenticeship by MBM Training Academy is a three-year apprenticeship course that covers a wide range of globally approved syllabuses and training guidelines by Mercedes-Benz Global Training with Mercedes-Benz Competence elements. The programme incorporates International Qualifications up to Level 3 and is recognised by the Department of Skills Development under the Ministry of Human Resources.
As part of the brand’s strategy and global direction to lead in electric vehicles, Mercedes-Benz has developed a new profile for Electric Vehicle Specialists, known as Expert in High Voltage (EHV) which will be introduced starting with the 2022 intake. This new syllabus will be added on the existing modules to help trainees prepare for the increase in electric vehicles expected in the future.
