To mark the end of the 2022 Formula 1 season, Mercedes-AMG has presented a special model of the SL63 4MATIC+, reflecting the look of the Mercedes-AMG F1 W13 E PERFORMANCE racing car.

Based on the range-topping SL63, the sporty roadster is now available in the Motorsport Collectors Edition with an assortment of visual tweaks but unfortunately, there are no upgrades under the hood, meaning it will still have the same twin-turbo 4,5-litre V8 engine that produces 430 kW of power and 800 N.m of torque. With it being a Collectors Edition, Mercedes will cap the production of the roadster to only 100 examples and each will come bundled with an indoor car cover made from a synthetic fabric that won’t tear. It also boasts an anti-static lining of woven flannel on the inside to protect the vehicle from scratches and dust.

The Motorsport Collectors Edition boasts a number of visual upgrades, these can be found on the front apron, side sill panels and rear diffuser. Added to this are 21-inch AMG 10-twin-spoke forged wheels in a matte black finish with PETRONAS-coloured rim flanges. The SL63 also features an electric soft top in black, adding more detail to the theme of the car.
Much like the race car that inspired it, the limited-edition roadster features a two-tone paint job, graduating from high-tech silver metallic to obsidian black metallic at the rear of the car. The black section is dotted with three-pointed stars, while both portions of the car gain flashes of green from the Petronas racer that are also repeated on the outer trim of the wheels.

The AMG Aerodynamics package not only dramatises the appearance with larger flics on the front and rear apron, the larger rear diffuser and the active profile in the underbody improve the aerodynamic properties. The same applies to the downforce and aerodynamic drag. This all brings advantages for the driving characteristics at high speeds and for improved efficiency.
The standard AMG Performance seats are available with two upholsteries, black Nappa leather/Microcut microfibre with red topstitching and embossed AMG emblem in the head restraints or in black Nappa leather/Microcut microfibre with yellow topstitching and the same embossed AMG emblem in the head restraints. The AMG carbon-fibre trim harmonises well with the heated AMG Performance steering wheel with a carbon-fibre rim.

Mercedes-AMG hasn’t revealed how much more you’ll have to pay to get your hands on one of these limited edition SLs, but it’ll inevitably cost a pretty penny more than the standard car.
