Gustavo Menezes will leave Peugeot at the end of the year, leaving the FIA World Endurance Championship squad with a gap to fill in its driver lineup.
The American has been with the French manufacturer since they began competing in the WEC last July, but has announced he will be moving on at the end of the season, with his destination unknown.
‘It’s too soon to share with you all my plans for 2024, but it will be fast,’ said the 28-year-old on Instagram.
With Peugeot so far not having the greatest of success with the unconventional, wingless 9X8 so far in the WEC, Menezes has yet to score a podium with the French team. He’s had a best result of fourth, at Monza and Bahrain last year, and fifth this year at Portimao. He and his teammates Loic Duval and Nico Muller finished ninth at Le Mans in June.
Regarding his replacement, Peugeot has so far not announced who will partner Muller and Duval next year, although reserve driver Stoffel Vandoorne did replace Muller at Fuji last weekend, as the German broke his collarbone over the summer break.
Menezes’s last race for Peugeot will be at Bahrain on Saturday 4th November, also the WEC season finale.
