Mazda has introduced enhanced charging performance and new sounds to the refreshed MX-30.

Mazda has revealed several updates for its all-electric MX-30, including faster charging and new paint and interior colour options. The revised Mazda MX-30 EV is available to order now.
The biggest change is the Mazda’s ability to now charge at a maximum of 50kW, an increase of 10kW. As a result, the MX-30’s 35.5kWh battery can now be fully replenished using a rapid DC charger in just 26 minutes, which is a reduction of 10 minutes. However, the claimed range of 124 miles remains unchanged, as does the car’s overall power and acceleration.
Mazda has also tweaked the sounds the vehicle’s motor makes during acceleration and adjusted them on its refreshed model to give a better sense of how much power is being applied. Mazda claims the tweaked frequency adjustments create a more consistent and natural noise.
Mazda’s improvements across the range now give more configuration options for colour with the options of a three-tone design on the Exclusive-Line, which Mazda expects will be the most common specification choice, as well as the Makoto. The contrasting colour options include two of the brand's newest options, Zircon Sand, and Soul Red crystal.
Top of the range Makoto models now have three upholstery options with a mix of artificial leather colour choices. Managing Director, Mazda Motors UK, Jeremy Thomson, said, “with the introduction of our new Zircon Sand colour and the option to choose the new dark grey and black interior on Makoto models there’s more customer choice than ever.” He also commented that “our first all-electric Mazda heralded an exciting start to Mazda’s second century in business. A battery electric vehicle conceived and created with Mazda’s well-renowned focus on distinctive styling, innovative technology, driver focused dynamics and class-leading interior quality, the MX-30 is a stand out addition to the rapidly evolving EV marketplace”.
Three specifications are available on the Mazda MX-30 starting with Prime-Line that has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as parking sensors and an 8.8-inch infotainment screen. Moving up to the mid-spec Exclusive-Line adds a smart key and power adjustable seating; the highest spec Makoto adds a Bose sound system and a heated steering wheel. Standard equipment across all models includes radar guided cruise control, LED headlights, and reversing camera.
The recently unveiled Mazda CX-60 plug-in hybrid is to join the range alongside the updated all-electric MX-30 and the mild-hybrid CX-30 as the brand continues to transform its line-up with more electrification.
