Luxury carmaker Maserati dropped a vivacious video of its soon-to-be-here GranTurismo Folgore EV at the beginning of September. Viewers can see nearly all aspects of the EV in the clip – shot in California during Monterey Car Week in August – except for its dashboard.
Alongside the car, the video stars Klaus Busse, Maserati Head of Design; Maria Contin, Chief Communication Manager; and stand-up comedian Sebastian Maniscalco, and best of all, there’s no camouflage at all, so we get a proper look at the future vehicle.
Looking the same but different from its predecessor, the Folgore version of the GranTurismo wears accentuated and modern design elements. Keen eyes will notice the signature Maserati grille isn’t fully covered, flanked by brake duct intakes, a vented hood, and LED headlights mounted on the fenders.

Unsurprisingly, there aren’t any exhaust pipes out back; however, there are fake exhaust notes pumped into the cabin to give it an audible accentuation for those who still care for it. The sleek shoulder lines in profile flow into horizontal taillights, and a well-hidden diffuser. The charging port is located on the rear bumper, which is a smart place for it, as it pushes drivers to reverse into charging/parking spots.
The 2+2 cabin in the video is decked out with white and blue upholstery; uses environmentally friendly materials; and to me, offers rear seat space that appears unsurprisingly cozy. Maserati blurred the dashboard in the video, to leave at least something to show off when this Folgore is officially unveiled.
Busse indicated the batteries are in the central tunnel for lower ground clearance, and to maintain the sleek look of the GranTurismo. Impressively, a DC fast-charger returns 100 miles (161 km) of range in a measly 10 minutes. And speaking of stats, the video reveals the zero-to-60-mph (-97-km/h) sprint of the Folgore, done in 2.6 seconds; the zero-to-62-mph (-100-km/h) time is 2.7 seconds, and the top speed exceeds 200 mph (320 km/h).
No official power figures are out yet, but expect it to likely eclipse the 1,000-horsepower point. Car and Driver suggests it may even hit 1,200 horsepower, channelled through three motors.
