Maserati is building on its MC20 supercar by unveiling a limited run super sportscar known only by the codename Project24.
The non-road-homologated track-only car starts its life as a MC20 but comes thoroughly enhanced. This, of course, starts with the twin-turbo Maserati Nettuno engine. The V6 adds new turbochargers that help bump the power to 740 horsepower (up 120 horsepower). This is then connected to a 6-speed sequential racing gearbox with paddle shifters, racing clutch, and a limited-slip self-locking mechanical differential.
From there, in-house design studio, Centro Stile Maserati, gains a new carbon fiber body. Freed from the constraints of typical race cars, it features high-performance aerodynamics with adjustable front and rear wings.
The chassis itself is made of ultra-light carbon fiber with ¾ on-board air jacks, adjustable racing dampers and anti-roll bars. And based on the brand’s obsession with lightness, the Project24 weighs below 1,250 kilograms helping it product a power-to-weight ratio of 1.69 kilograms per horsepower.
Inside, the Project24 has a 6-point safety harness, adjustable steering column, and pedal box. The steering wheel, too, is made of carbon fiber and contains a built-in display and multi-function controls. There’s also a long list of options too such as telemetry recording, rear-view camera, tire pressure monitoring, and even a passenger seat. At least, air conditioning is standard.
Maserati is building only 62 units of the Project24 and each one comes with a unique range of services, including track-specific experiences and support, exclusively for the owners.
