The upcoming Maruti Suzuki “Baleno Cross” has been spotted testing once again on the Indian roads. However, the model now looks a lot more production ready, even the alloy wheels design also seems to have been finalised as those were also wrapped in heavy camouflage stickers.
Speaking about the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Baleno Cross, the model is internally codenamed YTB, and the Indo-Japanese automaker is planning to launch the crossover very soon in the Indian automobile market.
We expect the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Baleno Cross to be positioned between the recently updated Maruti Suzuki Brezza sub-4m SUV, and the newly launched Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV. This will further drive the sales of Maruti Suzuki and also give customers a wider range of choices.
Speaking about the heavily camouflaged version of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Baleno Crossover, the model seems to have attained the final production form. However, the heavy camouflage hides many details about the upcoming model.
However, despite these camouflage tricks, there are a few cues which lead to some expectations from the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Baleno Cross. The most noticeable of those include the new alloy wheels, LED headlights, raked rear windshield and high ground clearance.
Apart from that, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Baleno Cross also seems to sport two-piece tail lamps, slightly squared wheel arches, a large rear spoiler with high-mount stop light, and a pair of large yet stylish door-mounted ORVMs. We also expect this model to sport rugged-looking all-around black cladding as well.
Though the interior of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Baleno Crossover could not be seen, we expect the model to sport a similar-looking dashboard as the newly updated Maruti Suzuki Baleno premium hatchback.
In terms of features, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Baleno Cross is likely to include features such as a large 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, connected car tech, a 360-degree surround-view camera, a heads-up display, climate control, powered ORVMs with turn indicators, electric boot release and much more.
Moreover, we expect safety features such as 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), traction control (TC), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and a few more.
In terms of powertrain, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Baleno Crossover is likely to sport either the tried-and-tested 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine with an Integrated starter generator or the more powerful 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine from the Baleno RS.
The 1.2-litre engine is likely to put out 88bhp of peak power and 113Nm of torque, whereas the more powerful 1.0-litre engine is likely to produce 100bhp of peak power and 150Nm of peak torque. Gearbox options are likely to include both manual and automatic gearbox options.
It is also worth mentioning that the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Baleno Crossover is most likely to be sold through Nexa dealerships in India.
Thoughts About Maruti Suzuki Baleno Crossover
The upcoming Maruti Suzuki Baleno Crossover is likely to slot between the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and sold as a spiritual successor to the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. Moreover, the launch of the Baleno Crossover will give more options to aspiring SUV buyers in the country.
