Despite the launch of the newer Mahindra Scorpio N SUV, the demand for the older version of the Mahindra Scorpio SUV remained strong. This pushed Mahindra to relaunch the model as ‘Mahindra Scorpio Classic’.
That being said, Mahindra Scorpio Classic was launched in two variants – S (base) and S11 (top-spec). Since there was a large price gap between the two variants, Mahindra has now introduced the mid-spec S5 variant that will bridge the gap between the base and top-spec variants of the SUV.
Now, ahead of the price reveal of the S5 variant of the Mahindra Scorpio Classic SUV, a walkaround video of the variant has been uploaded to YouTube by The Car Show on their channel.
According to the video, the Mahindra Scorpio Classic S5 variant misses out on a few bits such as projector headlamps, LED DRLs, fog lamps, gloss black front grille, and body-coloured door handles.
However, the model comes equipped with exterior design elements such as a set of large 17-inch alloy wheels, body-coloured front and rear bumpers, gloss black ORVMs, roof rails, rear spoiler, and rear parking sensors.
On the inside, the S5 variant does not feature an infotainment unit, hence it misses out on steering wheel-mounted controls as well. Overall, the interior looks very basic but it does come with features such as a tilt-adjustable steering wheel and four power windows.
It is also worth mentioning that the Mahindra Scorpio Classic S5 variant featured in the video comes with side-facing seats on the last row. However, as per the previously leaked documents, the Mahindra Scorpio Classic S5 variant can be specified with forward-facing rear seats as well.
Coming to the powertrain, the S5 variant continues to be powered by a 2.2-litre, turbocharged diesel engine with 130bhp and 300Nm of peak torque. Furthermore, this engine comes exclusively mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
That being said, we expect Mahindra to price the S5 variant somewhere between the base ‘S’ variant and the top-spec ‘S11’ variant. This means the Mahindra Scorpio Classic S5 variant is likely to be priced around the Rs 15 lakh mark.
Thoughts About The Mahindra Scorpio Classic S5 Variant
Though the Mahindra Scorpio S5 variant bridges the gap between the base ‘S’ variant and the top-spec ‘S11’ variant, the model still turns out to be very spartan in nature. However, this makes the model ideal for those looking to customise their SUV with aftermarket accessories.
