Mahindra has released a new teaser of the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio SUV. The new teaser is voiced by Amitabh Bachan and partially reveals the new Scorpio ahead of its launch in India.
The new teaser also reveals all the sides of the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio SUV and clearly reveals the upcoming SUV’s twin-pod LED projector headlamps, LED fog lamps, C-shaped DRLs, front bumper, rear bumper and the window line.
In addition to that, the upcoming new Mahindra Scorpio wears Mahindra’s new logo and the SUV also features a lot of chrome elements on all the sides. Apart from that, the side profile of the new 2022 Mahindra Scorpio has a few design similarities with Mahindra’s XUV lineup of SUVs.
Further analysing the new teaser from Mahindra, the new Scorpio features rugged-looking black cladding all around the vehicle. In addition to that, the new Scorpio also features very premium looking dual-tone alloy wheels and chrome lining on the bottom side of the windows.
It is also worth mentioning that the upcoming new Scorpio won’t be featuring the flush-type door handles as seen on the Mahindra XUV700. Overall, from the images, the new Scorpio also looks at least a size bigger than the current generation model.
We expect the new 2022 Mahindra Scorpio to feature a rugged body-on-frame chassis and come powered by Mahindra’s tried-and-tested 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine and 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
However, to avoid direct competition with the Mahindra XUV700, these engines are likely to be offered in a lower state of tune. In addition to that, the upcoming new Mahindra Scorpio is more likely to come with both manual and automatic transmission as options.
Mahindra is also likely to equip the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio with an advanced shift-on-fly four-wheel-drive system and this four-wheel-drive option is more likely to be available only on the top-end variants of the SUV.
Recently, the interior of the upcoming new Mahindra Scorpio was spied and the spy shots reveal glimpses of a significantly improved interior compared to the outgoing model. Further analysing the spy shots of the interior of the new Scorpio, it is clear that the upcoming D-segment SUV from Mahindra takes lots of cues from the Mahindra XUV700 and Mahindra Thar.
Looking at the interior spy shots, we expect the top-end variants of the new Mahindra Scorpio to feature a majority of features from the mid-variants of the Mahindra XUV700. This will include features such as a large touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, memory seats, wireless charging pad, cooled glovebox, and much more.
We expect Mahindra to price the upcoming new Mahindra Scorpio quite aggressively with a starting price close to the Rs 12 lakh mark. This pricing will also allow the automaker to position the SUV below the Mahindra XUV700.
Thoughts About The All-New 2022 Mahindra Scorpio
When Mahindra launched the Scorpio in 2002, the SUV has been a game-changer for the automaker in many ways. With the launch of the new 2022 Mahindra Scorpio, we expect the upcoming SUV to become one of the best-selling SUVs in its segment.
