The Saudi-backed Tesla rival Lucid Motors has unveiled more details of its upcoming Gravity SUV, with reservations expected to open in early 2023.
Based in California, and headed by ex-Tesla engineer Peter Rawlinson, and more than half-owned by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, Lucid Motors unveiled its much-anticipated flagship sedan the Lucid Air in late 2020.
Lucid’s next car will be the Gravity, an electric luxury SUV which is planned for delivery in 2024, with reservations opening early next year.
This far in advance, it should be of little surprise that final vehicle design and specifications are yet to be confirmed.
Just like its older sibling, the Lucid Air, the Lucid Gravity will also boast an all-electric range greater than that of any other EV on the market. In September 2021, the 2022 Lucid Air smashed through an official electric vehicle range record, scoring an impressive 520 miles, or 837km, according to the US Environmental Protection Agency.

Inside, the Lucid Gravity will offer flexible seating for five, six, or seven adults in two- and three-row seating configurations.
Up front, the Gravity features “next-generation Glass Cockpit high-resolution displays” which will operate the next generation of the Lucid UX software interface.
Further Gravity specifications will be unveiled in early 2023 when reservations open. However, at this stage, it looks like availability will initially be limited to the United States and Canada. Lucid has confirmed that availability and timing for markets outside those two countries will be announced at an unspecified future date.

“I’m so thrilled with the results we are seeing with Lucid Gravity, sparing no opportunity to build on everything we learned with Lucid Air to create something that warps the vehicle-class continuum,” said Derek Jenkins, senior vice president of design at Lucid Group.
“It is both a supercar in disguise and an SUV with flexible passenger and cargo space that seems impossibly big relative to the exterior size of the vehicle. And it does this all with Lucid’s distinctive post-luxury design, inspired by California.”
