Final test runs are in progress for Phase 2 of the MRT Putrajaya Line ahead of its opening in January 2023. Unfortunately, the test runs will affect the operations along the already open Phase 1 causing longer train intervals from 22-November 2022 to 18-December 2022.
Train operator Rapid KL announced on their official social media pages that train frequencies will increase to eight minutes during peak hours and 12 minutes during non-peak hours.
Note that this only applies to the MRT Putrajaya Line, the MRT Kajang Line that runs from Kwasa Damansara to Kajang will remain business as usual.
The first phase of the MRT Putrajaya Line opened back in June 2022. The line introduced a total of 12 stations covering a distance of 17.5 km and providing folks in Kepong with a new mode of public transportation other than the KTM.
Phase 2 will add 28 more stations between Kampung Batu to Putrajaya Sentral bringing the total number of stations to 36 and spanning a distance of 57.7 km.
The line will pass through 13 underground train stations in the central business district with interconnecting stations at Titiwangsa, Chan Sow Lin, Tun Razak Exchange, Ampang Park, and Sungai Besi.
As mentioned, if all goes to plan, Rapid KL plans to open Phase 2 in January 2023. At the moment, there is still no specific date set yet. Watch this place for updates.
