Arriving at dealerships in late November.
Recently refurbished with EcoBoost power and style for days, Lincoln is introducing a Monochromatic Package as an option on snazzy versions of its top shelf Navigator, allowing a colour-keyed look in Pristine White and Infinite Black. An off-white Ceramic Pearl gets the monochromatic option as well.
According to talking heads who specialize in interior design, single colour paint schemes are enjoying popularity in the fields of fashion and photography, and Lincoln wants in on the action. There are still touches of chrome but the look is much more subdued than the in-yer-face brightwork found on some other big SUVs. The package is available on the Navigator Reserve trim level.
Knowing that those with the big bucks like their technology, Lincoln says the 2020 Navigator is now packed with more signature features and standard technology. Primarily, the Lincoln-exclusive Phone As A Key technology, first arriving in the all-new Aviator this summer, comes to the 2020 Navigator as a standard feature. Activated through the Lincoln app, this neato bit of technology allows owners to lock and unlock, open the liftgate and, most importantly, start and drive their Navigator – all without a traditional key fob.
It is the latter feature that bears the most attention. Many vehicles allow drivers to remotely start and unlock the car through an app but the actual action of, y’know, driving the thing requires the presence of a key or fob. Luddites in the room will surely scream that this means a dead phone leaves Navigator owners with a fistful of no-go but it’s important to remember the SUV still comes with a real key.
Elsewhere, power running boards are now standard, as are heated and ventilated front-row seats and a wireless charging pad for compatible mobile phones. Navigator gains Lincoln Co-Pilot360, a suite of driver-assist nannies including lane keeping and automatic emergency braking. In reality, these features do a good job of keeping this rig on the straight and narrow when its driver’s attention begins to wane.
Co-Pilot360 also includes the likes of forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, and blind spot detection with trailer coverage. Oh yeah – the rear-view camera gains a washer system, great for spritzing away road crud that inevitably collects to render the camera less useful than a screen door on a submarine.
