Nissan South Africa has added a “racy” Red Edition specification to its Magnite range, with only 600 units on offer.
The Magnite Red Edition is based on the Acenta trim, gaining red accents both inside and outside as well as a few additional features directly from the factory.
The limited-edition crossover is now available at R298,300 for the manual specification and R325,300 for the automatic.
What’s new on the Red Edition
Over and above the standard Magnite Acenta, the Red Edition gains a red-themed dashboard, LED-illuminated scuff plates, and red accents inside the cabin, while on the outer shell it gets red brake calipers, chrome garnishing on the tailgate, model-specific badging and decals, and red highlights around the windows as well as on the grille and front and side cladding.
Buyers also have a choice between two exterior colours – Onyx Black or Storm White – while two-tone 16-inch alloys are fitted on each specification.
The Red Edition further brings several standard amenities including a wireless charger, cruise control, automatic air conditioning, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, an 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice control, a rear-view camera, a leather multifunction steering wheel, hill-start assist, and hill-descent control.
As with the rest of the range, the Red Edition models are driven by a 1.0-litre, turbo-petrol engine directing 74kW to the front wheels.
The motor can be paired with a five-speed manual shifter, this configuration generating 160Nm of torque at an average fuel consumption of 5.3l/100km.
Otherwise, it’s available with a CVT gearbox that produces a lower 152Nm and does a higher 6.0l/100km consumption figure.
For the manual, 100km/h is then attained in 11.7 seconds while a top speed of 173km/h is on offer, and for the auto, the sprint is completed in 13.4 seconds with a maximum of 168km/h on the books.
