It is as if a standard Huayra wasn’t already exclusive enough that Pagani decided to create a limited edition Codalunga which stretches the supercar into a sculpted and aerodynamic form.

Pagani is not a volume brand, so when something vaguely different to the norm rolls off of the production line it generally makes waves in automotive circles. Whether it be a hardcore track-focused model or just a Huayra with a bespoke paintjob and livery, the world tends to follow with a close eye; just like a recently commissioned NC. Their latest project at the mercy of the Grandi Complicazioni department has created five examples of the specialised and limited-run model; unfortunately, all of which are already sold.

Spending a small fortune on the project to ensure it complied with global regulations, the considerable amount of work completed means that each model demanded the price tag of €7 million, just a tad under R120 million. Pagani has not mentioned if each of the commissioned models have gone to their new owners after the 4 year long project has now come to an end.

The limited edition Codalunga still employs the V12 that is capable of 617 kW and 1,100 N.m although the styling is significantly different to anything that has ever come out of a Pagani factory before. Styled and inspired by the longtail Le Mans racers of the 1960s, the newcomer has a more sculpted and lengthened rear overhang that retains the iconic quad tailpipe setup. Overall, the model tips the scales at 1 290 kg compliments of advanced composite materials for its bodywork which uses only semi-matte or fully matte paints of neutral colours.

Next on the agenda for the manufacturers of functional art cars is the C10 which we can expect to debut on the 12th of September.
