Lexus mid-May released its first teaser for its next-generation 2024 GX, an overhaul that will mark the first time the SUV has seen a major redesign since 2010. The two images the automaker shared show off a boxy, angular aesthetic some have aptly called “brutalist,” the styling language somewhat reminiscent of both the company’s GX and Toyota’s new Sequoia.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the new GX is expected to share the TNGA-F body-on-frame platform of that latter vehicle, which also underpins the Tundra pickup. That means those trucks’ twin-turbo V6, likely with i-Force Max hybridization, is probably a safe bet when it comes to the new SUV’s powertrain, which means bye-bye for the current gen’s V8.
The GX on sale now is more specifically badged “GX 460,” and trademark filings suggest the new version may be dubbed the “GX 550.” (Because the numbers always have to get bigger, right?)

2023 Lexus GX 460
MSRP $75,900 to $83,850
We expect the GX will offer a three-row variant, even though just a few days ago the Japanese luxury automaker also teased another new three-row SUV, the totally new TX nameplate.
When can you expect to see the new GX? “Soon.” That’s literally the only official information Lexus put out alongside the photos, the fact that “the all-new 2024 Lexus GX” is, comma “coming soon.” When we find out more timeline details or get wind of more teaser, we’ll update this piece and let you know.
