Lexus has unveiled its Electrified Sport concept at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in Britain, which the automaker says “captures the spirit of the legendary Lexus LFA.” It’s the first public appearance of the concept outside of Japan, after we first saw it last December as part of a virtual presentation of 16 electrified Toyota and Lexus vehicles by Toyota president Akio Toyoda.
If it does go into production, we’d expect it to be just as rare as the LFA was. Only 500 copies of that V10-powered car were hand-built between December 2010 and December 2012, including some with a factory-equipped package so their owners could take them circuit racing. The LFA retailed for approximately US$375,000.

Lexus didn’t outline any concrete plans for the concept to go into production, saying only that it is “the company’s vision for a future all-electric high-performance sports car,” and that “with the essential bold proportions and low ride height of a sports car, it symbolizes the future of the Lexus brand.”
But Lexus did tip its hat by saying the concept is expected to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in the “low two-second range” and will have a cruising range of more than 692 kilometres. Lexus also said that, in order to achieve high performance, a production model “may use new solid-state battery technology.”
The concept was part of a larger display of Lexus electric vehicles at Goodwood, including the UX 300e compact SUV, already on sale in Europe and its first all-electric production vehicle there; and the RZ 450e, expected to go on sale in Canada later in 2022.
