Lewis Hamilton has compared Max Verstappen and Red Bull’s off-track drama to a “Kardashian show” after a string of controversies hit his former title rivals. The Mercedes star also stressed he was looking forward to the next series of Drive to Survive to see more details of what happened at the team.
Hamilton made the comments when asked about the season and Red Bull’s budget cap breach. Red Bull was also involved in a team orders squabble which has opened up divisions between Verstappen and Sergio Perez.
It comes despite Red Bull dominating the campaign with Verstappen securing 15 wins en route to both world titles. Hamilton told Channel 4: “I mean, it feels like a bit of a Kardashian show happening here.
“It’s pretty hilarious, some of the stuff that I’ve heard over the past few days has been so entertaining. I’m sure it’ll all be on Netflix, it’s going to be great.” Red Bull were found guilty of breaching F1’s cost cap rules by £1.8million ($2.2m) last season.

The FIA accepted they would have only gone over by £432,000 ($0.5m) if they had submitted their tax reports correctly. The team were fined £6.4m ($7m) for breaking the rules and were also hit with a sporting penalty.
It means Red Bull will face a 10 per cent reduction in wound tunnel testing and CFD development next season. Christian Horner hit back at the penalty as he described it as a “draconian” measure.
However, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff felt the punishment was still “too little” but accepted a reduction in development would hurt Red Bull next season.

Hamilton previously admitted the Red Bull budget cap saga was a “kick in the teeth” after the Briton missed out on an eighth title on the final lap last season. He added: “When you heard going into Singapore about this cost [cap] thing that, for sure, [it] brings up a little bit of emotion.
“Because you kind of buried it and moved on and then it comes back up, and then it’s like another bit of a kick. That just bought it all kind of fresh again.”
Just weeks later, Verstappen and Perez were at the centre of a feud after the Brazilian Grand Prix as the reigning champion ignored team orders. Red Bull had demanded Verstappen slow to let Perez through in his battle for P2 in the Drivers’ Championship with Charles Leclerc.
However. the Dutchman refused to follow the request and claimed he had reasons for not letting Perez through.
