Leveraging the positive reception towards the Defender 90 and 110, Land Rover Philippines is capitalizing on that opportunity by growing the Defender family by a lot.
As the brand turned over their 400th Defender unit to a Philippine customer—effectively doubling the total number of units sold in the country (the
200th unit milestone was achieved in October 2021
), Land Rover Philippines added not just the Defender 130 to the line-up, but the Defender 110 Plug-In Hybrid (P400e) variant as well.

, so now, we’re focusing on the Defender 110 P400e.
The Defender 110 P400e is so far the only Defender variant available with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. For that, it gets a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder mated to an electric motor that churns out a total 404 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 640 Nm of torque from 1,500 to 4,400 rpm. The drops its century sprint to just 5.6 seconds, while top speed is at 191 km/h (pure EV mode maxes out at 140 km/h).
Even better for would-be owners, the Defender 110 P400e’s 19.2-kWh battery allows it to cruise up to 51 kilometers on pure EV mode. This effectively raises its fuel economy rating to 40 km/L—better than any sub-compact hatchback out there. It can be topped up using a typical domestic household output (2.3 kW) in 9 hours or as fast as 2.5 hours using a 7-kW AC wall box charger. Using a 50-kW DC fast charger drops that to just 30 minutes.
The introduction of the Defender 110 SE P400e means Land Rover Philippines had to shuffle the rest of the Defender line-up. They discontinued the Defender 110 S D240 in favor of the D300. This means that the plug-in hybrid now serves as the middle variant sandwiching the Defender S D240 and the new Defender 110 S D300.
Even more curious is Land Rover Philippines’ decision to expand the Defender offering to no less than 18 variants—five for the Defender 90; 12 for the Defender 110; and one for the Defender 130.
The only thing missing in the local line-up is the V8-powered Defender 90, which can probably be ordered as an indent anyway.
By comparison, the rest of the local Land Rover/Range Rover line-up only has 14 variants in total—three for the Discovery Sport; three for the Discovery; two for the Range Rover Evoque; two for the all-new Range Rover Sport; and four for the Range Rover.
