The Land Rover Defender V8 007 Bond Edition recently debuted in South Africa and each example destined for our market has already found an owner.
“We had 5 units – 2 x 90 and 3 x 110 – that were allocated to the South African market, and they were all pre-sold to customers,” Land Rover South Africa told TopAuto.
The official domestic pricing of these special-edition Defenders was not made public, but we expect them to have been more expensive than the V8 Carpathian Editions which start at R2,488,160 for the two-door and R2,600,160 for the four-door.
The Bond Edition line-up was created to celebrate Land Rover’s 25th appearance in a James Bond film, the vehicles making their debut one month before the premiere of the latest movie in the series – No Time To Die.
Only 300 units were produced between both body styles – each one boasting an SV Bespoke “One of 300” etching, unique exterior and interior design elements, and exclusive software animations.
No Time To Die
The Land Rover Defender V8 007 Bond Editions are differentiated by 22-inch Luna Gloss Black alloys, Xenon blue brake calipers, a “Defender 007” badge on the tailgate, and the Extended Black Pack design option.
A custom puddle lamp also proudly displays the 007 logos on the floor below the wing mirrors.
Further visual enhancements took place inside the cabin, comprising illuminated “Defender 007” treadplates, the “One of 300” etching, and a special start-up animation on the 11.4-inch infotainment screen.
As with the rest of the Defender V8 line-up, these special editions are powered by a 5.0-litre, V8, supercharged powerplant that produces a staggering 386kW and 625Nm.
An eight-speed automatic gearbox gets the job of sending power to all four wheels – while standard-fit air suspension, model-specific damper tuning, and an electronic active rear differential hones its abilities.
This combination allows the 90 to sprint to 100km/h in 5.2 seconds, whereas the 110 claims the landmark in 5.4 seconds. Top speed is pinned at 240km/h for both.
“The Land Rover Defender V8 Bond Edition is an exclusive take on the most powerful production Defender ever made, inspired by vehicles on-screen in No Time To Die,” said Finbar McFall, Land Rover brand director.
“It represents a meeting of two great British brands and is a unique celebration of Land Rover’s 38-year association with James Bond.”
