Land Rover South Africa is expanding the Defender line-up with several additions, including a new cosmetic package for the five-seater 110 as well as a V8 engine option and an all-new model for the eight-seater 130.
The Defender 110 with County Exterior Pack, Defender 130 Outbound, and Defender 130 V8 are now available for order and are expected to arrive in South Africa by the end of 2023.
Defender 130 Outbound
The newest member of the Defender family, the 130 Outbound is exclusively available as a five-seater whereas all the other 130s feature seating for eight, lending it 1,329 litres of storage with the rear seats up and 2,516 litres when they’re laid flat.
To set it apart from the rest of the line-up, the company has applied a “Shadow Atlas” matte black finish to the bumpers and grille insert, while the side vents are in Anthracite.
The look is then rounded out by a set of 20-inch gloss black or 22-inch matte black alloy wheels, depending on customer preference.
Buyers also have a choice of Fuji White, Santorini Black, Carpathian Grey, and Eiger Grey paint schemes, which can be protected against scratches with an optional Satin Protective film.
Inside, the seats can either be had in full Windsor leather or durable resistant fabrics – both of which are ebony coloured – while the various instruments received a Satin Black Powder Coat brushed finish.
The floors are covered in rubber matting to protect against heavy items like suitcases, and additional storage compartments have been added to stow smaller items.
The cabin has also been fitted with additional lashing points and a new cargo net to ensure that outdoor equipment can be secured while on the move.
The Outbound makes use of the brand’s six-cylinder turbocharged P400 engine, giving it an output of 294kW and 550Nm and a fuel consumption of 9.9l/100km.
Furthermore, it features an all-wheel-drive system with electronic air suspension and terrain response, giving it up to 430mm of ground clearance and a wading depth of 900mm.
Defender 130 V8
The 130 is also being bolstered by the addition of the brand’s 5.0-litre, supercharged V8 engine, which will be joining the range alongside the existing P400 and D300.
The new powerplant produces a total of 368kW and 610Nm, letting the SUV sprint to 100km/h in as little as 5.7 seconds.
The V8-equipped Defenders are exclusively sold in a Carpathian Grey or Santorini Black appearance and are fitted with a sliding panoramic sunroof, Matrix LED headlights, daytime running lights, privacy glass, darkened tail lights, and 22-inch Dark Satin Grey alloy wheels.
Inside, the 130 features 14-way electronically-adjustable front seats, ebony leather and suede upholstery, a suede heated steering wheel, four-zone climate control, a wireless phone charger, heating and ventilation functions for all three rows, a heads-up display, a digital driver display, a Meridian Sound System, and an 11.4-inch Pivi Pro infotainment screen with What3Words navigation.
Defender 110 County Exterior Pack
Outside of the 130 range, the 110 is getting its own enhancements with the addition of a new County Exterior Pack.
This pack, which in South Africa is reserved for the 110 SE, adds “County” graphics to the doors and side panels, illuminated treadplates, and gloss white 20-inch alloys.
Customers can also opt for a two-tone body scheme, with the combinations being a Fuji White body and Tasman Blue roof, a Santorini Black body and Tasman Blue roof, or a Tasman Blue body and a Fuji White roof.
As for the interior, the aesthetic options include Grained leather and Windsor leather in ebony, or an Acorn and Lunar theme.
