Following last year's Hoonicorn is tough, but Block's Porsche is up to the task.

Ken Block has a wild collection of some incredible machines. His 1965 Ford Mustang still stands out as an achievement in absurdity. While this is tough to follow, Block still manages to add wilder machines to his collection and his latest takes the cake. Dubbed the Hoonipigasus, this 1400-hp, mid-engine Porsche 911 looks like it’s ready to take flight, but its job is to tackle Pikes Peak.
Built by the team at BBi Autosport in conjunction with Ken Block’s crew at Hoonigan, this Pikes Peak Porsche is full of serious hardware. The folks at BBi Autosport moved the Porsche’s flat-six up from the rear to make it mid-engine. The engine is a 4.0-liter flat-six that’s force fed by a pair of turbochargers, which should help overcome thinning air as Block climbs the mountain. Helping turn that power into motion, this Porsche now features an all-wheel-drive system.
Of course, power isn’t enough to take you to the top of Pikes Peak ahead of the pack. This Porsche sports a suspension that adjusts based on GPS telemetry from last year’s event and enough aero to make it stick anywhere. While most sanctioning bodies limit the aerodynamic package or suspension available to competitors, events like Pikes Peak let car builders and teams have effectively an open book to design their aero packages without the constraints of pesky rules. Block’s Porsche will run in the Open class, which effectively limits cars to being production based, and resembling the production model’s sheetmetal.
This isn’t the first time Block’s made the trip up Pikes Peak, as you’d rightfully assume from the aforementioned GPS data. Block famously climbed Pikes Peak with his updated Hoonicorn for the wildly popular Climbkhana video. You can almost bet on Block documenting his trip up Pikes Peak with his Porsche Hoonipigasus during the 100th running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Though, until the car makes a pass up the hill on June 26, you’ll have to look at the still pictures of this Porsche.
