It's a track that shows off the new car, but also has more than a quarter of a kilometre of the signature orange Hot Wheels track.
With Jaguar’s launch of the refreshed for 2021 F-Type roadster yesterday, it was easy to miss that Jaguar made one of the coolest Hot Wheels layouts that we’ve ever seen wrap around the company’s design studio. It’s a track that shows off the new car, but also has more than a quarter of a kilometre of the signature orange Hot Wheels track.
It starts with a 1:64 scale model of the F-Type, in camouflage, of course, since Jaguar hadn’t quite shown us the car just yet. It’s launched down the track in Studio 4 at Jag’s design center in one of the more innovative ways we’ve seen to show off a car’s new features. Stitched into the video of the Hot Wheels car on the track.
It starts by showing the car ready for launch down the track and cuts to a shot of the new F-Type’s 12.3-inch fully digital dash display with the rev-counter revving and the driver engaging a gear. Then it rides through about half a dozen of the 25 total loop-the-loops on along the track, cut with shots of people enjoying the drive in a real car.
Then the littlest F-Type winds through the design studio, across the desk of staff working on the latest set of wheels for the car. If you’re wondering how it could handle 232 metres of track, you’ll see the dozens of booster packs (55 in total) that get the cars moving quickly again.
After the wheels, it’s through the clay model department where the F-Type rolls over a larger model F-Type and then takes a big jump before hitting the dash designer’s desk. More loops and jumps, just like the real car will be able to do? Probably not.
Then it’s through the harness strap hole and into the interior surfaces department before one last jump that launches it into the tire of the real F-Type in the parking lot.
That’s 44 corners, four bridges, three jumps, 55 boosters, 25 loops, and one cool new sports car. If you want one of these Hot Wheels F-Types, Jaguar says they’ll be available starting November next year. We’d certainly love to have one to run across our desk, whether it’s in the Velocity Blue of the real thing or the camouflage of the model.
