Jaguar South Africa has announced the new F-Type celebrating 75 years of sports cars for the brand, as well as marking the final model update for the F-Type as a whole before the brand goes all-electric in 2025.
The new F-Type will be available as either a coupé or convertible in R-Dynamic, 75, or R 75 specifications – resulting in a total of six models on offer.
The first customer deliveries are expected to take place from January 2023 and pricing has yet to be announced, said Jaguar.
End of an era
The new Jaguar will feature a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine paired with an eight-speed Quickshift transmission, which gives the car a power output of 331kW and 580Nm.
Drivers will be able to take manual control using either the SportShift gear selector or steering wheel paddle shifters, and in South Africa, it will exclusively be offered in all-wheel drive with an active rear differential and torque vectoring.
This setup allows for a 0-100km/h sprint time of 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 285km/h in the R-Dynamic and 75 specifications.
Those who opt for the F-Type R 75, however, can expect a higher power ceiling of 423kW and 700Nm, which reduces the already-fast acceleration time to just 3.7 seconds.
Furthermore, the R 75’s maximum speed is electronically limited to 300km/h.
Each powertrain is further matched to a switchable active exhaust system to deliver a distinctive crackle sound that is synonymous with the F-Type, said the automaker. Additionally, a quiet start function will grant customers a more subtle start-up.
All models are also equipped with an Adaptive Dynamic system which uses continuously variable dampers to optimize low-speed comfort and high-speed control, and owners will be able to configure the steering weight, suspension stiffness, throttle response, and gearshifts.
New look
Every F-Type is now fitted with 20-inch wheels with a choice of four different designs ranging from a gloss black five-spoke set to a diamond-turned 10-spoke design
As the flagship model, the R 75 also sports forged rims and specially-developed Pirelli Zero tyres providing exceptional grip levels, and it can be specified with yellow brake calipers and fade-resistant carbon ceramic brake discs measuring 398mm in the front and 380mm in the rear.
Adding to its visual flair are new Pixel LED headlights, “Calligraphy J” daytime running lights, and a redesigned set of Jaguar and R-Dynamic logos in black and grey, as opposed to their previous combination of red and green.
The interior, on the other hand, now has a 12.3-inch interactive driver display, stainless steel treadplates, and sports seats with heating and cooling functions, and the special-edition 75 models will come with a Windsor leather upholstery and an ebony suede headliner as standard.
