The Isuzu V-Cross and MU-X have been updated with a new touchscreen infotainment system. Isuzu has updated its V-Cross pickup truck and its MU-X SUV with a larger 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This update comes nearly a year after the BS6 models were launched.
For a few years now, the Isuzu V-Cross has been the only proper lifestyle pickup truck on sale in India. Though Isuzu sells the next-generation V-Cross in several Indian markets, we in India had to make do with the previous generation. In fact, Isuzu still retails the older model of the V-Cross in India.
The Isuzu MU-X on the other hand is a premium SUV offering from the Japanese brand and though it gets lots of features, it doesn’t sell very well with the market being dominated with the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and the erstwhile Ford Endeavour. Isuzu could afford to sell a previous generation model in India because of its monopoly in the market.
Now though, there is a competitor in the market and a good one at that. Toyota has launched the Hilux in the Indian market and though it is a more expensive than the Isuzu V-Cross, its reputation and legendary reliability precedes it. Hence, Isuzu had to do something to increase the premium feel in the V-Cross.
Well, Isuzu as it turns out, has decided that a bigger touchscreen infotainment unit should give buyers a more premium experience. The Isuzu V-Cross and MU-X both previously featured a 7.0-inch touchscreen. With the new update though, it now gets a 9.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay.
The new touchscreen display is the only upgrade on the V-Cross and MU-X. Everything else on the two 4WD vehicles remains the same. They still feature the same butch design and styling. The same practicality too has been retained.
The Isuzu V-Cross is powered by a 1.9-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that puts out 163bhp 3,600rpm and 360Nm 2,000-2,500rpm. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The pickup truck also features a shift-on-the-fly 4WD system. It continues to be available in eight attractive colours. The same mechanicals also power the Isuzu MU-X.
In terms of features, Isuzu has equipped these two vehicles with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, Hill Descent Control, Traction Control, Cruise Control, Powered Driver’s seat, etc.
Thoughts On Isuzu V-Cross & MU-X Being Updated With A Bigger Touchscreen Infotainment Display
Isuzu enthusiasts have been feeling a bit shortchanged especially since the time the brand launched the BS6 V-Cross. Many eagerly awaited the next-gen V-Cross, but all we got was a facelift. Now, a slightly larger infotainment display might do some damage control, but that still isn’t enough. Launching the next-gen model will certainly help Isuzu compete with the Toyota Hilux.
