This isn’t their first rodeo but it may upset some purists as the latest Everrati Ford GT40 makes use of a 588 kW electric powertrain. To appease the critics, they have simulated gear shifts and the original V8 sound too.

Where to start? It looks like a standard GT40 which means that everything underneath must be significantly different. For the most part it actually isn’t, the main portion of the powertrain is still cocooned in the structure behind the cockpit which means that the Everrati Ford GT40 has a 40/60 front-rear weight distribution. This may we add, is an improvement on the original on which it is based which only achieved a 38/62 front-rear weight distribution when it raced in Le Mans.

In addition to this, the new model also boasts twice as much power that its antecedent with a claimed 588 kW and 800N.m meaning it certainly is no slouch. It may not be as ludicrous as some purpose built EV hypercars but this architecture has been developed fully internally by Everrati with claims that it is “allied to the latest state-of-the-art electric motors and batteries.”

No compromise has been made here either since it uses a 700-volt platform which allows for super-fast charging to get the Everrati Ford GT40 fully juiced up to its maximum 201 km range. The most impressive aspect of this setup is that its weight comes in at a feathery 1 320 kg, which again is an improvement to the tune of 47 kg over its 60 year old predecessor. All of these applied into performance mean that the upgraded model can hit 100 km/h from standstill in “well under four seconds” but more importantly provides commendable road manners.

We’re not sure if this is a good or bad thing but the Everrati Ford GT40 boasts up to 110 dB of augmented V8 exhaust sound while a simulated virtual gear change synchronised to the sound generators should make it akin to the experience of the real thing. This can be used when drivers select Race Mode.
