One thing we have learned and continue to do so is that the Malaysia Motorcycle of the Year Awards (MMOTY), of which we are the organisers, requires coordination and cooperation. Lots of it. It is not just about picking up the motorcycles from the respective manufacturers, riding them, handing them to the next reviewer, then to the next, and finally returning them. There is also the challenge of holding the motorcycles. Where do we store 5, 8, even 10 motorcycles all at once? Dividing them up among the three judges would still mean each person had to store at least 2 motorcycles at their respective locations which would have made switching motorcycles much harder. Thus we needed a base of operations, where we coordinated our plans, put those plans into action, and evaluated what we experienced. And Gamuda Gardens at Rawang was the perfect venue. Set against a backdrop of undulating hills and cascading lakes, Gamuda Gardens kept us refreshed despite the current hot weather and our exertions. To put it bluntly, the venue kept us sane. The management also allowed us to store the test bikes in a centralised and secure location. We had a dozen motorcycles at certain points but we always rested peacefully, knowing that Gamuda Gardens’ security ensured the bikes’ safety from theft and arson. We are proud to announce Gamuda Gardens as the venue sponsor of the Malaysia Motorcycle of the Year Awards 2026. This allows the public to view several of these motorcycles at the venue between now and the awards. Gamuda Gardens is now the flagship township for Rawang and Sungai Buloh. But it is not another township with a lake garden – it is actually an 810-acre playground where nature and neighbourhood life have decided to throw a permanent garden party. Forget the concrete jungles of the city; here, the air is fresher, the skies feel wider, and the vibe is perpetually “weekend retreat.” Gamuda Gardens is a paradise for explorers on two wheels or two feet. An extensive 40km network of cycling and hiking trails weaves through wetlands, parks, and green corridors. You can pedal past community farms, spot wildlife in the dedicated nature reserves, or simply find a quiet bench to watch the sunset paint the sky in brilliant hues. It is a place where you can trade the honk of car horns for the chirp of birds and the rhythmic whir of bicycle wheels. But want something to get your adrenaline pumping? Hit the Skyline Luge KL, the crown jewel of Gamuda Garden. It features over 1.6km of thrilling luge tracks carved and weaving through the landscape. The green, scenic route lets you cruise and enjoy the surroundings, while the more advanced blue and red tracks ramp up the adrenaline with sharper turns, tunnels, and exciting dips. But it is by far not the standalone attraction here, as there is the Ferries Wheel, FunPark, and Big Bucket Splash waterpark. Of course, let us not forget about the Kev Advenduro Park. Here, you can experience thrilling ATV rides, dirt bike adventures, and off-road classes perfect for the entire family. The park’s principal, Kevin Lee is a certified off-road coach and is one of the judges of this year’s MMOTY. The magic is in the mix. This is a true live-work-play ecosystem. One minute you are sipping a artisan coffee in a trendy café, the next you are browsing through a vibrant weekend market for local crafts and fresh produce. There are sports complexes, community halls buzzing with activities, and an overwhelming sense that this is a place designed for connection – with nature and with neighbours. Gamuda Gardens feels like a masterfully crafted breath of fresh air. It proves that modern living does not mean sacrificing space or serenity. It is where kids grow up climbing trees, adults rediscover the joy of a sunset stroll, and every weekend holds the promise of a new adventure – be it a picnic by the lagoon, a challenging bike trail, or simply enjoying an ice cream under the vast, open sky. It’s not just a place to live; it is a destination for everyday joy, right in the heart of Rawang.
