Huawei Aito M5. This is the name of the new model that the Chinese electronics behemoth has unveiled to the public. Huawei and Seres have created a new brand to promote their next models, which will be available in China in 2022. The first is a long-range electric SUV with a stylish interior and exterior.
Huawei and Seres have collaborated to create a new brand to advertise the results of their partnership. If the electronics giant unveiled a relogotyping of the SF5 Seres a few months ago, taking advantage of the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, now both are back in the fray with a double premiere. The first major announcement is the launch of the new Aito brand, which stands for Adding Intelligence to Auto.
A new model for the new brand is the second innovation.
It’s a really stylish SUV, but it’s not entirely new because it’s a modified version of the Seres SF5, which is offered in Spain as the DFSK Seres SF5. As a result, the M5 is unique in that its silhouette, front and back, are wholly new and distinct from the Aito M5’s predecessors. The lateral form, which is identical to that of the Porsche Macan, is the first thing that catches your eye.
The Chinese SUV is 70 millimeters longer than the SF5 and has the conventional dimensions of a D-segment vehicle, with a wheelbase of 2.88 meters and a length of 4.77 meters.
The big and ragged headlights, the ample mounting of tires and alloy wheels, and the rear light clusters that dominate the whole tailgate and offer a design as unique as those of the Porsche model stand out from the front.
The new M5’s interior is incredibly roomy and bright, with a 15.6-inch touch screen for the infotainment system that, of course, runs on a Huawei operating system. The instrument cluster has a 10.4-inch digital display behind the wheel, and the raised transmission tunnel is hollow. The Chinese have also devoted great attention to driver safety, installing an unique camera on the left pillar of the windshield that constantly monitors the driver’s posture.
The Aito M5 will be on sale in February 2022 with two variants of the “DriveOne” propulsion system: rear-wheel drive with a 204 hp electric motor and four-wheel drive with a second electric engine on the front axle that provides a bit more power, 224 hp.
The second option will have a maximum power of 428 hp in total. A Performance version with no less than 496 CV of power has been created by the company. The M5 also comes with a 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder engine with 125 horsepower, but it simply serves as a generator to charge the 40-kWh battery pack. The autonomy covers a total distance of 1,195 kilometers.
Huawei might become a new participant in the burgeoning international electric car market, according to a recent report from the Reuters news agency, which claims that the corporation has already begun a project to join the market with self-designed automobiles.
According to Reuters, up to four independent sources have stated that Huawei is working on an electric car project and that we may see the first models in production configuration by the end of the year.
One of the Chinese manufacturer’s storefronts.
Huawei has categorically rejected this, stating that it is not true because the company is “not a car manufacturer,” however they do reaffirm their interest in the sector as a component supplier to OEM manufacturers.
This is no surprise, given Huawei’s long history of working on connected car technologies with companies like Volkswagen AG.
According to the Reuters article, Huawei’s new electric models are being developed domestically and will be inexpensive devices aimed at the general people, however the corporation is looking into the idea of outsourcing production. Changan Automobile and BluePark New Energy Technology, both owned by BAIC, are the companies listed. Both companies’ spokespeople have refuted these allegations.
The grounds for Huawei’s entry into an industry as unfamiliar to them as electric automobiles are straightforward. Because the power industry has yet to erupt, and Huawei is in a precarious position after being rejected by the US, it is only natural that the business seeks fresh opportunities in other industries.
