We show you how to change out the car battery on a Toyota Land Cruiser 200. Just make use of our handy step-by-step tutorial.
Power cruising
The Toyota Land Cruiser 200 may share a name with its beefier sibling but this vehicle is all about overland cruising in luxury. That luxury does come at a price, as extra load is placed on the vehicles’ battery to run all the ancillary services. It is still a Land Cruiser though and changing out the battery is a simple task that you can tackle between sandwiches.
When the time comes to change the battery in your Land Cruiser you can save yourself a trip to your local battery shop and tackle the job yourself using our easy step by step guide.
You will need:
- New replacement battery for your model (correct amperage)
- 12mm socket and wrench and 10mm spanner
- Push rivet removal tool
Let’s get started!
1. Begin by opening the bonnet
2. Use the push rivet removal tool and remove the front engine cover to reveal the bolt of the battery hold down clamp.
3. Remove the negative terminal using the 10mm socket or spanner
4. Remove the positive terminal using the appropriate size wrench.
5. Use 12mm socket, remove the hold-down bolts that clamp into the battery tray.
6. Remove old battery
7. Install the new battery.
8. Install clamp and terminals in reverse order.
