The compass has a great interior and an easy-to-use infotainment system that requires a solid electric supply which it gets from the onboard 12v system. If any of the tech inside begins to malfunction it could be due to a car battery that is on its way out. Owners will immediately share the advice that the battery will need to be changed, and we can show you it’s done with minimal tools in about 15 minutes.
You will need:
- 10mm wrench
- 13mm socket + extension and driver
Let’s get it done
1. Open the bonnet
2. Locate battery and remove red terminal cover
3. Use the 10mm to remove the negative terminal
4. Use 10mm to remove the positive terminal block
5. Use the 13mm socket and driver to remove the bolt that holds down the retaining strap
6. Exchange battery
7. Assemble in reverse order
Pro Tip: If you don’t want to lose any of the settings on the infotainment or trip memory you will want to use a battery saver to keep the necessary systems powered while you replace the battery.
