You might not know the VinFast name yet, but enough people are intrigued by it that they have reserved electric SUVs from the Vietnamese automaker.
At the New York International Auto Show, VinFast executives said they have received 65,000 global reservations since January for the VinFast VF 8 and VinFast VF 9 SUVs that are scheduled to go on sale in North America later this year and are also entering the European market.
The upstart automaker has also filed for an initial public offering this year to raise its international stature, as well as financing, although money is not an issue as VinFast is part of the huge Vingroup private conglomerate owned by billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, known as “the Chairman.” So, enough about VinFast’s finances—how will yours stack up against the EVs it plans to offer here in America?
