This is an incredible video of a Tesla Model 3 where the YouTuber has put it to the test without its body! Yes, you heard that right! In order to compare the performance of the regular model with this version, he took off the entire body panels to reduce weight to see if the 0-60 mph acceleration can be completed any faster than what Tesla originally claims, which is 3.1 secs. That is the basis of this experiment. But to actually remove the panels is easier said than done. Here are the details of how the vlogger was able to do and what the results were.

This video has been uploaded by B is for Build on YouTube. It is a popular channel that keeps featuring content around DIY projects mostly related to cars. This time around, the YouTuber has a special idea in mind. He wants to test how much faster can the Model 3 go from a standstill to 60 mph if all the body panels are to be removed. In essence, he wants to reduce the weight as much as possible to see how the performance would get affected. Hence, he commences the process of unscrewing all the body panels of the Tesla keeping the just driver’s seat and the steering wheel, etc.

He showcases just how difficult it is to actually remove the body panels and components. This being an electric car, he came across tons of wires for the electronics which, if damaged, could stop a lot of functions in the car. Hence, he needed to be extra careful. The team did a fine job of avoiding all the electronic wires and cables and were able to remove the doors, roof, side body panels, cladding, glasses, boot, and everything else that was not needed to drive the car.

Shocking Results
The results were shocking. The vlogger did a 0-60 mph sprint with the body initially in 3.8 secs. That is expected since there was no proper equipment to reach close to what Tesla claims (3.1 secs). Thereafter, when he drove the Model 3 without the body, he was able to shave 1 sec off that time and completed the 0-60 mph sprint in just 2.8 secs. He mentions that it is incredible what they were able to achieve just by removing all body parts. He ponders what the acceleration time of the Plaid trim would be if they were to do this same exercise on it.
