Ford’s flagship supercharged V8 mega-ute gets power turned up to the max by famous Texan tuner
For those who think the latest 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R is still a little too tame, Hennessey Performance has introduced a wild new VelociRaptoR 1000 upgrade that winds up power from 522kW to an incredible 746kW.
To liberate the extra horses and ramp up power to almost 1000hp, Hennessey says it has applied many of the modifications it developed for the unhinged Ford Mustang GT500 Venom, including throwing on an even larger 3.8-litre supercharger in place of the regular truck’s 2.6-litre blower.
Other changes include a revised high-flow induction system, larger fuel injectors, a new supercharger belt, upgraded fuel lines and a complete recalibration of the pick-up’s factory ECU.
The mods not only boost total power by 40 per cent, but swells the already-generous 867Nm torque peak of the Ford F-150 Raptor R to an incredible 1152Nm.
As well as the extra might, Hennessey has added dialled-up visual punch for owners who want to advertise that their truck has received the VelociRaptoR 1000 treatment.
These include new front and rear bumpers, an LED light bar, 20-inch rims wrapped in huge 37-inch off-road tyres and some loud body stripes, graphics and lettering.
“The VelociRaptoR 1000 raises the performance bar significantly in terms of sheer power,” said Hennessey founder John Hennessey.
“Add in the characteristic supercharger whine and the distinctive exhaust note from the unique cross-plane V8, and the package is unbeatable.”
To be introduced during the first quarter of 2023, Hennessey has not announced pricing for the upgrade but promises it will be backed by a two-year/38,000km warranty.
It’s not yet known if the Texan tuner plans to offer any of its wild performance kits in Australia, when sales of the locally-converted Ford F-150 begin next year.
