Incoming coupe-style Haval H6 GT and hybrid version of mid-size SUV awarded top ANCAP rating
The just-landed 2022 Haval H6 Hybrid and the incoming 2022 Haval H6 GT have emulated the regular H6’s top safety credentials with five-star ANCAP ratings of their own.
The hybrid’s result verifies that the petrol-electric version matches the safety performance of the broader 2022 Haval H6 mid-size SUV range, which in March joined the ranks of the safest models in class with a maximum rating under the latest ANCAP protocols.
Separate testing was required due to the H6 Hybrid’s electrified powertrain having some different packaging and key structural components.
It was a similar story with the H6 GT, which has a different body design and fits into the sporty coupe-style genre.
The GT is due to launch in July.
The results for the two new models means all examples of the H6 sold by GWM Australia score 90 per cent for adult occupant protection, 88 per cent for child occupant protection, 73 per cent for vulnerable road user protection and 81 per cent for safety assist.
“The confirmation of a five-star ANCAP result on these two new models is confirmation of GWM’s intent to continue developing a range of vehicles that employ smart technology to enhance safety and comfort for Australian new-car buyers,” a local spokesperson said in a statement.
“GWM’s sales in 2022 are now 11.4 per cent ahead of the same period last year.
“However, the company plans to increase its sales in the second half of 2022 by up to 50 per cent thanks to the addition of new models such as the Haval H6 Hybrid and Haval H6 GT, plus the resolution of supply restrictions that have limited further growth so far this year.”
